Feasibility Study, Survey, Detailed Design and Supervision of Pangaon and Ashuganj Cargo Terminals of Bangladesh Regional Waterway Transport Project 1, IDA Credit No.: 5842-BD, Contract No. BRWTP S4 Project of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) under the Ministry of Shipping (MOS), Government of Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh.

Services included:

·        Surface water quality is of prime concern not only for drinking and irrigation but also for maintenance of ecology, aquatic life, other consumption, aesthetic uses, and sustainability. Objective of surface water quality analysis for present study is to provide baseline information for the project river water quality. Scope of surface water quality will provide baseline information of the physico-chemical characteristics of the project river. Surface water was collected at two (02) locations from the Project River including Buriganga and Meghna River at where the cargo terminal will be developed. Baseline parameters selected for the study are pH, Temperature, Electric conductivity (EC), Total Dissolve Solids (TDS), Salinity, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), and Nitrate.

·        The groundwater was collected from two (02) project influenced locations. The parameters are pH, Temperature, Electric conductivity (EC), Total Dissolve Solids (TDS), Salinity, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Arsenic (As), Iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mn). The groundwater samples will be collected from near the project.

·        Soil samples will be collected and be analysed for physical and chemical properties. Two (02) soil samples will be collected form the project influenced area. The construction activity may affect the soil quality. The soil will be tested for knowing the pH and texture that will help to get a clear idea of the particle size distribution of the soil.
