Feasibility study for water resources availability and its impact due to abstraction, use and discharge in the surrounding project area, as per requirement of WARPO for BSRM industrial park, Sonapahar, Mirsarai, Chattogram.

The Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills Limited, commonly known as BSRM, is a Bangladeshi steel manufacturing company based in Chattogram. It is the largest construction steel manufacturer company in Bangladesh. In 1952, it started its journey with four manual rolling mills. At present in Chattogram, there are four (04) major companies of BSRM which are more dependent on groundwater. These companies consist of BSRM Steel Ltd., BSRM Wires Ltd., BSRM Ltd., and Chattogram Power Company Ltd. They have established 12 deep tube wells to extract groundwater. The main task is to prepare Technical Study Report (Feasibility Study for Water Resources Availability and its Impact due to Abstraction, use and discharge in the surrounding Study Area) as per requirement of WARPO for BSRM Industrial Park. BSRM has engaged Development Solutions Consultant Limited (DSCL) to prepare the Technical Study Report as per guidelines of WARPO. DSCL is bound to complete the study and submit the report to WARPO and get approval.

This Technical Study Report has been prepared to provide-

1) To find out the impact of groundwater resources due to the existing and future abstraction, use and discharge in the study area

2) The outcomes of the surveys.

3) Current regional hydrogeological framework of study location.

4) Groundwater modeling for environmental management.

5) Impact due to abstraction, use & discharge by the study proponent.

6) Groundwater recharge potential.

7) To ensure the sustainability of groundwater in the study area.

8) To evaluate a relationship between the availability and demand of groundwater in the study area.
