Consultancy Services for Site Reconnaissance Survey for Construction of Container and Cargo Terminal at Mongla Port.

Construction of 366m long and 40m wide container and cargo terminal with back up facilities within the territory of Mongla Port. This will be constructed in an open area of approx. 22 acres of land located behind the dedicated terminal area on the east bank of river Passur.

The port infrastructure includes jetty, berth and back up area, existing piles on the jetty area, deck slab and wharf apron; container and cargo terminal; container and cargo yard; container freight station; warehouse; ancillary mechanical, electrical and water supply installations; buildings; security system of the entire area etc.

Development Solutions Consultant Limited (DSCL) has been engaged by SMEC International Pty Ltd. to conduct Site Reconnaissance Survey for Construction of Container and Cargo Terminal at Mongla Port.

Scope of Services included –

Condition Assessment Survey

Condition assessment survey collection of existing information of the project area, including but not limited to the following:

ü  Inspect the present conditions of all approach sections.

ü  Identify the existing condition of present facilities around the section.

ü  Visit all important locations around the project area.

ü  Collect all relevant information of the project area.

ü  Discussion with general information in the area regarding the proposed project.

ü  Photographs of the project area and surrounding area.

Environmental Reconnaissance Survey

Environmental Reconnaissance Survey comprises collection of various environmental information, including but not limited to the following:

ü  Local names of the Flora present in and around the section (Visual Observation & Consultation with Local People).

ü  Local names of the Fauna present in and around the section (Visual Observation & Consultation with Local People).

ü  Sensitive locations in and around the project area including GPS locations.

ü  Photographs of the project areas and surrounding area.

Social Reconnaissance Survey

Social Reconnaissance Survey comprises collection of various social information, including but not limited to the following:

ü  Number of surrounding households and their livelihood condition.

ü  Local business condition.

ü  Local transport condition.

ü  Health & Sanitation system in the area.

ü  Flooding condition of the area.

ü  Photographs of the project area and surrounding area.
