Description of Project:

At Present BREB is rending its services through 80 PBSs and already achieved 100% electrification connecting 3.39 crore consumers. To do that it has to install 1299 substations of capacity 17490 MVA and already been erected 5.35 lakh KM distribution lines. BREB operates 80 nos. of PBSs in the entire country, but only a few PBSs have shown positive financial margin. The rest of them are subsidized by this positive margins. 13 (Thirteen) nos. of PBSs located around the Dhaka city enjoy healthy financial conditions because of the favourable consumer mix ratio and most of the industrial consumer operates their factory in these regions. There for these 13 PBSs considered as the central point of the RE system and the vital utility facility provider to the country’s economy sustainability. These 13 PBS are as follows, Dhaka PBS-1, Dhaka PBS-3, Dhaka PBS-4, Gazipur PBS-2, Manikganj PBS, Munshi Ganj PBS, Narayanganj PBS-1, Narsingdi PBS-2, Tangail PBS, and Mymensingh PBS-2.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Staff of this Firm in the Assignment:

The scope of work of the EIA includes:

§  Review of relevant all documents and data/information from secondary sources, and identifies gaps to be filled, relevant to the environmental screening needs from field surveys.

§  Provide a description of the environmental baseline.

§  Conduct preliminary analysis of impacts and management measures of the nature, scale and magnitude of the impacts that the sub-project is likely to cause on the environment and classify the same using established methods.

§  Conduct stakeholder consultation in accordance with the ECR 2023.

§  Develop Environmental Management Plan (EMP) including Monitoring Plan for successfully implementing the mitigation/enhancement measures.

§  Prepare an EIA report in accordance with the Department of Environment (DoE) approved TOR.

§  Obtaining Site Clearence Certificate (SCC) from DoE prior to the start of the construction work.
