The Government of Bangladesh (GOB) has got financial assistance from International Development Association (IDA) for Rural Transport Improvement Project (RTIP)-II, which is implementing by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) under Local Government Division (LGD) of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (MLGRD&C). This project is rural transport related infrastructure including inland water transport and maintenance needs of 26 (twenty-six) contagious districts. The main activities of this consultancy services are preparing 04 (four) EIA for 04 (four) long bridges (180m, 180m, 160m and 110m where first two are pre-stressed concrete girder bridge and latter two are pre-stressed bridge_ which are under RTIP-2.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Staff of this Firm in the Assignment:

Services included:

• Collect necessary information, data relevant to prepare four Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Reports for four (04) long bridges
• Establish the environmental baseline conditions of the Project. Investigate special issues on air, water, soil and noise quality. Conduct detailed survey on physical, biological and socioeconomic environment.
• Prepare socio-economic profile and impact on the community
• Conduct public consultation to understand the people’s perceptions and suggestion on the project
• Assess environmental and social impacts of the proposed interventions.
• Prepare EIA report with the requirements of laws and regulations of the country and the World Bank (WB).
• Prepare environmental management plan (EMP), including mitigation measures, enhancement measures, contingency measures, compensation measures and an environmental monitoring plan.

Successfully Received Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) from Department of Environment (DoE).
