1. Uttar Matlab Bridge

2. Chilmari-Rowmari Bridge

3. Barishal-Bhola Bridge

4. Shariatpur-Chandpur Bridge

Gazaria-Munshiganj Bridge

Country:  Bangladesh
Project Duration: 05/2023 to On Going
Description of Project:

Bangladesh is a riverine country divided into three parts by the Jamuna, Padma and Meghna rivers. The partitioning generated by the rivers in the territory causes great sociocultural differences among the population and uneven economic growth between them. The construction of bridges plays a key role in the transport policy and, therefore, in the development of the country.

The Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) has fostered the preparation of a master plan to lay the foundations for the development of the country’s transport network and, at the same time, to carry out feasibility studies for four of the main road infrastructure projects, namely the bridges over the Meghna River, on the Shariatpur-Chandpur, Bhola-Lakhnipur and Gajaria-Munshiganj roads, as well as the elevated inner circular expressway around the city of Dhaka.

The Meghna River Bridges Length of 1,850 meters with 5,530-meter approach road on both sides of the bridge) on the Shariatpur-Chandpur, Bhola-Laxmipur, and Gazaria-Munshiganj roads. as well as the elevated inner circular expressway around the city of Dhaka, are four of the major road infrastructure projects that the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) has encouraged the creation of a master plan to lay the groundwork for the development of the country’s transport network.

The Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) is prioritizing the construction of the Brahmaputra River (having Bridge Length of 10.8km approximately 8 km in Chilmari Upazila and 6 km in Rowmari Upazila resulting in an overall bridge length of about 24.8 km) on the Chilmari-Rowmari route as a major road infrastructure project

This river divides Shariatpur and Chandpur districts. The proposed project is a bridge project over the river Meghna and an approach road connecting R860 regional highway at Shariatpur Site and R140 regional highway at Chandpur side. The project Shariatpur-Chandpur Bridge has two components –

Ø  Total bridge length 8.04 km including a cable stayed bridge of 1.5 km and

A dual 2-lane approach main road of 4.11 km toward Shariatpur end and 4.46 km towards Chandpur end.

The Barishal-Bhola Bridges has total length of the bridge is approximately 10.867 km (With a breath of 20.25m) and approach roads of 5.500 km (With a breath of 39.5 m). Additionally, there will be a 2.9 km approach road in Barishal side and a 2.6 km approach road in Bhola side.
